That is Boring, Daddy

Yesterday afternoon and evening was busy for us.  Vaughn had karate, then DJ had his last T-ball practice, followed by his end of season party with his team.  After that we had some cupcakes for my birthday.  When we got home after the party, here is what Vaughn told me:

Vaughn: So are we going to set up for your birthday now?

Daddy: Yes

Vaughn: What are we going to do?

Daddy: We are going to eat cupcakes and then go to bed.

Vaughn: Well, that is a boring birthday, just eat cupcakes and go to bed?

Halloween

Darth Vader and Buzz Lightyear had a great Halloween this year. 

 

Vaughn had homework this Halloween.  He had to count and sort all of his candy.  During his counting, he gave DJ one piece of candy.  When he got finished, he had 122 pieces, but he remembered that he gave one to DJ, and brought his grand total to 123.  Not a bad haul. 

Homework

Every day after school, Vaughn and Mommy open up his backpack and check out what he has brought home from his day.  Each afternoon, he has homework to work on.  He has a list of 30 "sight words."  He reads as many as he can in one minute.  He is really getting good at them.  It was really cool to watch Jenn working with him.  She is incredibly patient with him and has helped him improve quickly. 

 

Vaughn Getting His Little Dragon Yellow Belt

Vaughn got his Yellow Belt in his karate class last Wednesday.  He is very proud.

 

Bite

Vaughn: Mommy, bite my leg
Mommy: No
Vaughn: Bite my underwear
Mommy: No, you probably farted in that
Vaughn: I did :)

DJ the Bird

We were eating outside on the patio at Chuys today.  DJ was very interested in the birds that were around.  We had been joking that DJ and the birds both liked to eat chips. One bird in particular was very vocal, and was puffing out its feathers when it chirped.  DJ looked up at that bird and told us this:

DJ: That bird's name is DJ. 
Daddy: Is it because it eats chips?
DJ: No, it is because he talks a lot, like me!
DJ: I talk all the time when I am in bed.

Race Suspended Due to Bedtime

DJ fell asleep like this.  His car was probably in the middle of a race down the top of the headboard.

Crash

The other day, I was taking DJ to school, and stalled my car.  The car definitely jumped a little.  DJ asked me, very calmly, "Did you just crash, Daddy?"  We think he knows what it feels like from driving his electric truck around.

TX - OU

All four of us were watching the game, and I had been very vocal for most of the game. After three and a half hours of listening me yell at the TV, Vaughn was getting a bit annoyed. When Earl Thomas made the last intercaption, I again jumped up yelling with joy. Vaughn was in the other room working on a puzzle, and looked over at me and told me, very politely, but firmly, "Daddy - calm it down, that's too loud."

Tooth

Vaughn lost his third tooth last night.  He is very proud .  He said only 2 other people from his Kindergarten class have lost teeth.

Day Out With Thomas

Today we drove up to Burnet to go take a ride with Thomas the Train.  DJ, Vaughn, and Daddy all had a great time.  We rode on Thomas' front coach, played with some toy trains, colored, played with stamps, saw lots of Thomas stuff, slid down a big blow-up slide, played in a maze made of hay bales, saw some barnyard animals, and had lunch.  DJ's favorate part was riding on Thomas, and Vaughn said his favorate was a tie between the toy trains, slide, maze, and lunch.  We also saw their friends Henry and Jack English, and their cousins John and David (with Aunt Janet, Uncle Tommy, Lisa, and Chris in tow).  DJ, Vaughn, John, and David were playing in the maze, and Janet told DJ that John and David were his cousins.  He came over to me to confirm, "Are those my cousins?"  I told him they were, and he was very excited.  "They are my cousins!" 

While we were eating lunch, Vaughn said that "This is the best time I have ever had ... here."

Sidewinders

DJ had his first t-ball game of the season yesterday. His team is the "Sidewinders." The other team didn't show up, so we had a scrimmage with just our team.

Star Wars

We had a Clone Trooper and a Sith Lord in our midst yesterday. The guys love to play Star Wars. And capes are awesome too.

Nice Mommy

After Vaughn's flu shot yesterday, Jenn let him choose whether to go back to school.

Mommy: (to Vaughn) Do you want to go back to school or go home?
Vaughn: Can we play the Wii at home?
Mommy: No, we only play the Wii on weekends.
Vaughn: Mommy, you are not nice. Ms. Belzel is nice! (his Kindergarten teacher)
DJ: Mommy, you would be nice if (couldn't understand what he said here). That is how you can be nice.
Mommy: Oh, Okay (in a pacifying kind of way)
DJ: (to Vaughn, very pleased with himself) She is going to be nice now!

Every Day

DJ (to Mommy): "I want to pee pee outside on the grass with the dogs. I want to make it grow everyday."

He has a great Mommy. And the grass is growing.

Blue

Today at Kindergarten Vaughn had a day devoted to the color blue. He went all out. You can also see his shirt - that is his school mascot, the Reagan "Rays."
